PhD position (f/m/d) in the field of controlling coupled electricity-heat networks

Job description

As part of the international team of the "Networked Multi-Energy Systems" research group, you play an active role in shaping the energy transition. You develop physics-, data- and learning-based methods to operate the sustainable energy systems of tomorrow in a coupled, efficient and safe manner.

Your research focuses on:

  • Modeling of sector-coupled energy systems, especially coupled electric power systems and district heating networks
  • Development of scalable control concepts and optimal operation strategies for coupled electricity-heat networks
  • Demonstration and validation of your methods in simulative case studies (Matlab/Simulink, Modelica) and field tests with partners (municipal utilities, research institutions)
  • Participation in research-oriented teaching as well as in publicly funded and industrial projects
Personal qualification
  • Very good, completed Master's degree (electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, power engineering or similar) with a focus on automation technology, control engineering, and optimization
  • Previous knowledge in the field of energy systems is advantageous, but not necessary
  • Independent working style and a strong interest in advancing your own research topics
  • Business fluent level (B2) in English
Salary

Salary category 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
