PhD student (f/m/d) in Geometric Group Theory

Job description

You will progress towards research independence while working on a PhD project in Geometric Group Theory. Potential topics include cube complexes, group automorphisms, generalisations of Gromov-hyperbolicity and the interplay between these concepts. However, broader interests are appreciated and encouraged. The PhD position is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) through Dr. Elia Fioravanti's Emmy Noether grant "Coarse medians as a hyperbolicity surrogate" (515507199). 

Personal qualification
  • Candidates should have successfully completed a master degree in mathematics by the starting date.
  • Proficiency in the English language is expected.
  • Basic knowledge of geometric group theory is particularly appreciated.
Salary

Salary category 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
