Job description
  • Development of procedures for resource-efficient solvent extraction of lipids from microalgae
  • Planning and carrying out extraction experiments on laboratory scale using different digestion methods for microalgae, such as pulse electric field treatment and high-pressure homogenization
  • Selection and use of different solvents with the aim of achieving the highest possible extraction efficiency with low energy consumption and little effort for solvent recovery
  • Determination of the composition of the extracts, including using gas chromatography
  • Cultivation of microalgae on a shake flask scale
  • Use of diagnostics to determine cell wall composition
  • Preparation of project reports and publications in scientific journals
  • Presentation of the results at status seminars and international conferences
Personal qualification
  • Completed university degree (Master) in the field of biochemistry, bioprocess engineering, chemical process engineering or biology
  • A completed doctorate is an advantage
  • Several years of professional experience in a biological/biotechnological laboratory
  • Ideally knowledge of solvent extraction from microbial biomass and ingredient extraction from microalgae (downstream processing)
  • Sound knowledge of analytical methods in the above-mentioned areas
  • Good written and spoken English knowledge
Salary

Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
