PhD Student / Research Assistant (f/m/d) in "Gaussian Processes for State Estimation"

Job description

In this PhD project, you will join an interdisciplinary team working on machine learning under uncertainties. You will seek innovative solutions for state estimation and filtering in nonlinear stochastic systems. Especially for Gaussian assumed filtering, Gaussian Processes will be used to represent the estimator. Depending on your preferences, a suitable balance between theoretical development and practical applications will be found.

The final goal of your scientific activities at KIT is your doctorate.

Personal qualification
  • University Master’s degree in STEM areas and strong English communication skills (both oral and in writing).
  • Basic knowledge and scientific interest in AI methods and state estimation.
  • Strong willingness for independent research, self-learning, creativity, and teamwork.  

Salary category 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.

Initially limited to 2 years with the option of extension for an additional 2 years
