Research Associate (f/m/d) in the Field of Energy Economics: “Effects of innovative mobility concepts on the energy system”

Job description

Your primary responsibility is to work on interdisciplinary research projects focusing on techno-economic analyses within the framework of sustainable energy transition. A specific focus of your research is analyzing the impact of innovative mobility concepts on local energy systems:

  • Development and application of high-resolution geographical models to analyze energy demand and mobility patterns
  • Quantifying the contribution of new mobility concepts to reducing peak loads in local energy grids and improving regional security of supply
  • Integration of mobility data in energy system models to analyze public and private charging behavior and flexibility potentials
  • Development of strategies to optimize the use of flexibility in the energy supply and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Publication of results in high-class journals

The position offers the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.


Personal qualification
  • University degree (master's or diploma) in industrial engineering, business administration, process engineering, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a comparable field of study
  • Interest in performing quantitative analyses on energy topics
  • Knowledge/experience in the implementation of computer-aided models, such as operations research and machine learning methods or statistical data analysis
  • Professional aptitude, a high level of commitment, good self-organization, and good English language skills

Desirable but not a prerequisite

  • Domain knowledge
  • German language skills

Salary category 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
