Research Associate (f/m/d) - PostDoc Position
Job description
This role is part of a high-impact project, “Transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy Investigation on Catalyst Coated Membranes for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells”. As a member of our team, you will explore the frontiers of materials science using state-of-the-art electron microscopy techniques. Using conventional and analytical TEM techniques, you will be able to do groundbreaking material research in the field of energy technologies. We are proud to offer one of the most extensive selections of advanced electron microscopy tools and we are thrilled to announce that in Summer 2025, we will be welcoming a brand-new, double aberration-corrected, monochromated electron microscope. This cutting-edge instrument will open the door to even more sensitive, faster, and higher-resolution research.
You will have the following tasks:
- TEM sample preparation, including cryo-ultramicrotomy
- Investigating catalytic nanoparticles and polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells
- Collaborating closely with interdisciplinary project partners
- Documenting and publishing your findings, Presenting your work at conferences
- Mentoring Bachelor’s and Master’s students
Personal qualification
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a related field
- Mandatory experience in electron microscopy (TEM/SEM)
- Familiarity with TEM sample preparation techniques (e.g., cryo-ultramicrotomy) is a plus
- Strong software / IT skills are beneficial
- Excellent team player, enthusiastic, and eager to learn new skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
