Job description

The aim of this position is to carry out and further develop research projects in the field of energy-relevant materials using electron and x-ray spectroscopy. This includes carrying out experiments, maintaining experimental setups, evaluating and interpreting data and publishing the results. Your area of responsibility includes in detail:

  • Carrying out electron and x-ray spectroscopic investigations on energy-relevant materials (e.g., solar cells, batteries, catalysts) and molecular systems (including liquids and gases)
  • Assistance in the supervision, commissioning, and further development of the measuring equipment of the x-ray spectroscopy department
  • Guidance and supervision of students and doctoral candidates
  • Acquisition, management, and controlling of projects
Personal qualification

You have a university degree (Diplom (Uni)/Master) in physics, chemistry or materials science with a doctorate completed within the last 5 years. You have experience in working with ultra-high vacuum equipment and in research with X-ray and electron spectroscopy methods. The position requires a strong ability to work in a team and experience in coordinating project teams as well as initiative, determination and the ability to work under pressure. You also have a very good command of written and spoken English.
