Academic employee in the field of chemistry or materials science (f/m/d)
The Helmholtz Institute Ulm addresses the fundamental questions of electrochemical energy storage and, based on this, develops fundamentally new battery materials and cell concepts. Sixteen research groups are working in five different research areas. As part of research and development on novel electrochemical storage methods for post-Li batteries, you will work on developing new electrode materials for high-performance calcium batteries, as well as new methods for elucidating fundamental storage mechanisms.
Job description
As part of the development of high-performance and innovative post-Li battery systems at HIU, you are responsible for the following tasks:
- Synthesis and investigation of electrolytes and electrode materials for calcium batteries
- Chemical and electrochemical characterization using NMR, XRD, SEM, potentiostatic and galvanostatic measuring methods, cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy
- Preparation and testing of battery cells
- Publication of your research results in relevant scientific journals and presentations at national and international conferences
- Supervision of various preparation and analysis equipment, maintenance of laboratories and equipment
- Writing publications, presentations, and project reports
- Supervision of Master students and PhD students, preparation of project proposals.
The workplace is located at the Institute for Nanotechnology (INT) in Karlsruhe.
Personal qualification
- A university degree (Master) in the field of chemistry with Ph.D. in chemistry with knowledge in electrochemistry
- Experience in inorganic synthesis, material analysis using SEM/EDX, XRD, as well as FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy, and electrochemical methods
- Very good written and spoken English skills, and publication abilities are required.
