Job description

We are looking for an inspiring young scientist (f/m/d) in the field of circular economy in construction. The tenure-track professorship is embedded in the research and teaching activities of the Institute of Technology and Management in Construction.

You have proven expertise in the circular planning and realisation of buildings. This also includes systematic construction and modularisation approaches. Experience with circular value-added processes is also expected. A willingness to develop regulatory frameworks and to develop and evaluate marketable business models is also desirable.

In academic teaching, you will use your skills to strengthen the degree programmes of the KIT-Department of Civil Engineering, Geo and Environmental Sciences (BGU), particularly in civil engineering and related disciplines at KIT. In addition, you will also contribute your professional expertise and practical experience to the qualification and promotion of young scientists.

Prerequisites for your appointment are proven scientific achievements and teaching skills in the field of circular economy in construction. Ideally, you will also have relevant practical experience. A willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation within the department and KIT is expected.

You will execute university tasks with a teaching obligation of 6 hours per week per semester, if you have been evaluated positively. In other cases, your teaching obligation will be 4 hours per week per semester.

Employment is subject to Art. 14, par. (2) of the KIT Act in conjunction with Art. 51 LHG Baden-Württemberg (Act of Baden-Württemberg on Universities and Colleges) as well as to the Q uality Assurance Concept for Junior Professorships and Tenure-track Professorships at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology ( KIT ).

Contract duration

Employment is limited to six years as a civil servant for a fixed term or as a salaried employee. Before the expiry of the third year of work, an interim evaluation will take place. The evaluation procedure and evaluation criteria are outlined in the Quality Assurance Concept for Junior Professorships and Tenure-track Professorships at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Specific interim and final evaluation criteria will include: Commitment and proven quality in teaching, a clear research profile with internationally visible publications and lectures in the field of circular economy in construction, the successful acquisition of research projects and the supervision of theses and doctoral dissertations.

In case of a positive final evaluation, you will be offered a full professorship (W3).
