At the Chair of Geochemistry and Economic Geology, we focus our research on hydrothermal ore deposits, geochemistry of geothermal systems, re-mining of mine waste, pollutant dynamics and liquid mining. We wish to develop strong and visible research in these fields. We offer this position in order to strengthen our research team in the fields above with an individual that already has initial PostDoc-experience. Our laboratory is equipped with an excimer laser, a sector field and a quadrupole ICP-MS, and an ICP-OES. It is further equipped with XRD, XRF, SEM-EDX, electron microprobe and stable and clumped isotope analytics. A preference will be given to individuals, who additionally developed expertise in stable isotope geochemistry.

Your Tasks

  • to conduct field- and laboratory-based research in at least one of our research foci;
  • to publish in international peer-reviewed journals and present research results at scientific meetings; 
  • teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in geochemistry or economic geology (in German after 2 years);
  • to develop an own research portfolio and research group with PhD, Master and undergraduate students at the Chair of Geochemistry and Economic Geology;
  • preferably taking a lead in the stable isotope lab including further method development,
  • to generate multidisciplinary collaboration nationally and internationally and to apply for research grants from public funds and industry.

Your Profile

  • MSc and PhD degree (or equivalent) in geosciences or related subjects with research interests in one of our research foci;
  • proven track record in producing high quality publications;
  • experience in teaching;
  • capacity for interdisciplinary and international teamwork and excellent communication skills;
  • ideally some first experience in project acquisition.
