Your Tasks

You will be working in the framework of the Collaborative Research Center "High Performance Compact Magnetic Resonance” - HyPERiON. HyPERiON challenges conventions along the entire magnetic resonance (MR) signal chain, from sample to spectrum, strongly driven by miniaturization, hyperpolarization, and sample conditioning to spread these ideas into various application areas, making MR ubiquitous and compact. In the framework of HyPERiON, you will be part of the International Research Training Group (IRTG) of HyPERiON where you will receive interdisciplinary training at the convergence of materials, microsystems, hyperpolarization, and microfluidic technological advances.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Design and development of novel Magic Angle Spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probe heads;
  • Fluid dynamics simulation for MAS NMR stator-rotor ensemble;
  • Design and integration of RF detectors;
  • Rapid prototyping (3D printing, laser technology);
  • Characterization and optimization of demonstrator MAS NMR probe heads;
  • Publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field;
  • Good knowledge in at least one of the following fields: electrical engineering with an emphasis on RF engineering; CMOS engineering; mechanical engineering;
  • Previous experience with magnetic resonance imaging or spectroscopy is an advantage;
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken, is required.
