Vacancy No. 38/2025
Post-Doc materials science (f/m/d)
Job description
You will develop and implement in-situ / operando TEM methods for the characterisation of model systems in catalysis as well as approaches for the quantitative electron microscopic characterisation of the 3D structure of catalyst materials. In close collaboration with the CRC TrackACT groups, you will be responsible for the in-situ and ex-situ characterisation of catalyst materials using analytical (S)TEM techniques and electron tomography, in particular of defined cluster-deposited model systems and defined support materials. In addition, you will develop schemes for the characterisation of TEM investigations. The publication of the results in scientific journals and at conferences is just as much a part of your area of responsibility as the scientific supervision of doctoral students.
Personal qualification
You bring with you:
- completed university degree (Diploma (Uni) / Master) with completed doctorate in the field of materials science, physics or chemistry
- several years of practical work experience with imaging and spectroscopic characterisation methods in the field of electron microscopy, as well as in-situ TEM for gas phase reactions
- basic knowledge in the field of materials science and catalysis
- analytical skills for solving physical and technical problems
- proven scientific skills through publications and presentations
- business fluent in English
- ability to work in a team
- ideally experience in the supervision of master's and doctoral students and the acquisition of third-party funding
