Knowledge Graphs and Generative AI for Agentic Web-based Systems
Job description
The research group "Web Science" investigates artificial intelligence methods and their applications, especially the semantic representation of knowledge through knowledge graphs, generative AI, neurosymbolic AI, and Web architecture.
Your activities include research on methods for web-based agentic AI systems. This ecompasses the analysis of protocols such as HTTP, Solid, MCP, and A2A, the representation of knowledge in knowledge graphs, the interplay of large language models (LLMs) and knowledge graphs next to the ability to agent orchestration. This role shall investigate corresponding novel approaches in third-party funded projects.
In addition to research work, you will also be active in teaching and you participate in science administration.
There is the possibility of pursuing a doctorate.
Personal qualification
You have a degree (Master's level) in Informatics/Computer Science, Information Systems/Business Informatics, or in related fields. You have in-depth experience in:
- Knowledge Graphs / semantic technologies, especially the Resource Description Framework (RDF), or formal logics-based knowledge representation
and knowledge in some of the following points:
- Web architecture (HTTP, REST)
- Solid familiy of protocols
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Agentic AI protocols (MCP, A2A)
- Identities, security, privacy, and cryptography for the Web
- Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
Programming experience is highly advantageous. On top, you can excel using a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work in a team. A very good command of the English language in speech and writing completes your profile. Proficiency in German is very welcome, basic knowledge is required.

Salary category EG 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
