Vacancy No. 335/2025
Research Assistant (m/f/d)
HiTSMAPIS Research Project – High-Temperature Superconducting Magnets for Advanced Photon and Ion Sources
Job description
As part of this research project, we are working on the next generation of fast-ramped high-temperature superconductor magnets for particle accelerators. The goal is to develop superconducting coils that operate stably and efficiently even with rapid current changes – a key technology for future applications in research with photons and ions, as well as in high-energy physics and fusion research.
Your tasks:
- Experimental research and development in the field of fast-ramped HTS coils and magnets and related further development of our measuring equipment for superconducting magnets
- Cooperation with national and international research institutions
- Participation in scientific work of the working group
- Publication of research results and presentations at conferences
- Participation in teaching and supervision of theses
This position is also suitable for a PhD.
Personal qualification
You have a university degree (master's or equivalent) in physics, electrical engineering, process engineering, or a related field, as well as very good written and spoken English skills. Ideally, you have technical knowledge in the field of superconductivity, magnet design, and/or experimental work in cryogenic environments, as well as experience in the evaluation and modeling of research data (programming in C/C++ and/or Python under common operating systems).
You have experimental skills and enjoy tackling scientific and technological challenges. You work independently, in a structured and responsible manner. You work well in a team and communicate effectively with external cooperation partners. A culture of respectful interaction in an international environment is a matter of course for you.
